Greenbank Farm B&B holidays in Cartmel
Greenbank Farm stands in 75 acres of grazing land interspersed with small areas of ancient woodland. The late 16th/early 17th century farmhouse sits in a prominent elevated position boasting one of the best views of the beautiful Cartmel Valley and picturesque Cartmel village one mile to the south. Less than 3 miles from the A590 and only a 25 minute drive to the M6, Greenbank Farm Bed & Breakfast is ideally situated as a base for exploring the stunning Lake District.
Sandy and Sylvia Alexander look forward to welcoming you to the Bed & Breakfast rooms at their family home, Greenbank Farm. Sandy’s great-grandfather bought Greenbank Farm shortly after the outbreak of World War One in 1914. Two generations of the family reared beef and dairy cattle on the farm, together with a small thoroughbred racehorse breeding operation. The family connection with horses lives on today following Tracey & Rynardt Venter (Sandy & Sylvia’s daughter and son-in-law) moving their “Black Horses” business www.blackhorses.co.uk onto the farm in 2007.
The farm is now home to Sandy & Sylvia, Tracey & Rynardt and their young son Bailey as well as approximately 15 Friesian horses ranging from youngstock, broodmares, riding and dressage horses and those used for the carriage driving business. Greenbank Farm is now a busy equestrian centre but although work starts on the farm around 7am every effort is made to keep any noise to a minimum.
Two of the seven bedrooms in the farmhouse have been refurbished to provide centrally heated en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation:
Farm View, the main bedroom, offers Super King or twin beds accommodation with an en-suite bath and shower room. Farm View has its own entrance at the rear of the farmhouse and access to the modernised guest sitting/dining room is from an external door at the front side of the farmhouse or internally through the main house.
The second B&B room, Valley View, has a double bedroom with en-suite shower room overlooking Cartmel Valley and is accessed through the main house.
Both Farm View and Valley View have a mini-fridge.
In addition to our two en-suite rooms we have a double room “Paddock View” that shares the family bathroom a few steps away.
“Paddock View” has also been refurbished and has a comfortable King Size bed. The electricity meters and trip switches for the house are located in a cupboard in this room, but we are unlikely to need access to them during your stay.
There are flat screen TVs in all three bedrooms and the guest sitting/dining room. Free Wi-Fi is available in all guest areas with download speeds up to 20Mbps.
